This role is designed for a seasoned Surgery RN who has recently transitioned into retirement but is eager to impart their expertise to the next generation of nurses within our organization. The RN will provide exceptional nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing various invasive procedures.

Work Schedule: This position operates during the day, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

A successful caregiver in this position will be expected to:

  • Execute circulating duties, which include monitoring, documenting, and communicating the patient's condition while overseeing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Prepare surgical suites and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready for use.
  • Perform scrub duties, which involve selecting and managing the instruments and supplies utilized during surgical procedures.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) if involved in moderate/procedural sedation.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an RN Surgery role at Cleveland Clinic prior to retirement.
  • Proven clinical proficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires a full range of motion, including the ability to handle and lift patients, as well as manual dexterity and coordination. Standing and walking for extended periods is necessary.
  • Medium Work - Involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and the ability to push, pull, and maneuver supply carts weighing over 75 pounds periodically.

  • Adhere to Standard Precautions by utilizing personal protective equipment as required for various procedures.
