Position: Special Education Paraeducator - Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 9:15 AM - 4:15 PM, Student Contact days
Pay: $23.14 per hour
Benefits: Benefits are in accordance with the labor agreement covering Paraeducators.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Capability to lift up to 70 pounds and manage students in emergency situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Completion of any mandatory training for the role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution applicable toward a bachelor's degree, or a passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferably in Education)
  • Experience as an education assistant/paraprofessional or in teaching
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Training and/or experience in behavior management
Responsibilities:
  • Support the instruction of students by providing assistance and practical training in various subjects
  • Assist the teacher by performing duties such as:
    • Implementing instructional plans and adapting/modifying the curriculum as directed
    • Preparing class schedules
    • Organizing educational materials
    • Assisting with classroom activities
  • Support educational staff in addressing the specific needs of students, including but not limited to:
    • Redirecting inappropriate behaviors
    • Preparing food for and/or feeding students
    • Assisting in the physical movement of students
    • Diapering and toileting students
    • Escorting students to vocational training jobs
    • Chaperoning community outings
    • Supervising students during bus loading and unloading
  • Foster a safe and productive learning environment, ensuring student needs are communicated to other staff
  • Monitor and document the educational progress of students through evaluations
  • Record data related to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and the educational environment at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
