Job Summary:

The Environmental Intern will provide support to our team of environmental professionals in conducting site evaluations, testing, and inspection services. This role will assist with the completion of site investigation activities, including soil borings and test pit excavations, and other supporting tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct environmental site evaluations, testing, and inspection services.
• Assist with the completion of site investigation activities, including soil borings and test pit excavations.
• Complete soil, ground water, and air sampling and investigations.
• Pickup and drop-off samples to laboratories.
• Earthwork oversight, including excavation of fill material and contaminated soils.
• Conduct post-excavating samples and test pit oversight.
• Complete project data analysis and report writing.
• Complete ASTM Phase I site assessments.
• Develop standard operating procedures for equipment under the direction of a senior engineer.
• Maintain instruments in calibrated condition, collecting and reporting data to the manager, managing lab supply/inventory, and assisting in preparation of reports/presentations.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related engineering field at a College/University.
• 0-2 years of experience in environmental engineering, including residential and commercial/industrial/office site design and permitting experience.
• Valid driver's license, valid personal insurance, and a personal vehicle to travel to various sites during a given work day (note: the company will reimburse you for the miles traveled for the company).
• Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
• Hands-on experience with metric and English tools.
• 40 Hours OSHA training preferred.
• American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Phase I site assessment experience and knowledge of New Jersey state regulations and guidelines (preferred).
• Field survey experience a plus.
• Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
• Proficient in the use of available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Self-starter who can work independently and with team members, and present themselves professionally and confidently on construction sites and in an office environment.
