Overview:
As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer at MKS Instruments, you will play a pivotal role in the development and production of advanced laser technology products. Collaborating closely with Product Development Engineering, you will be at the forefront of innovation in the photonics sector.

Your Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:

  • Engage in initial design discussions with a focus on manufacturability.
  • Generate comprehensive bills of materials.
  • Develop detailed operational method sheets, work instructions, and routings.
  • Identify and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, translating them into effective processes.
  • Determine critical process parameters to establish a robust dataset for yield and process enhancements.
  • Set up and oversee pilot production lines.
  • Plan and execute the transition to manufacturing, including collaboration with contract manufacturers.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing laser testing equipment, both optical and electrical.
  • Experience in transitioning products to high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • A strong commitment to quality and process control.
  • Familiarity with Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Design for Manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and process flows, with experience in 5S and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Preferred Skills:
While not mandatory, the following skills are advantageous:

  • Experience with SAP, Agile, or other ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with systematic problem-solving techniques such as 8D or 5WHY.
