We are seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 (NDEC Scientist) to join our Washington team. In this role, you will collaborate with construction teams to facilitate the execution of fish-habitat enhancement projects (FHEP), specifically focused on repairing culvert barriers for migrating fish beneath US101.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct tree inventories and vegetation surveys
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Assist in wetland delineation, fish exclusion, and identification
- Contribute to the development of plans and reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, Geology, Engineering, or a related field
- Zero to five years of professional experience
- Education or practical experience in stormwater, geology, engineering, biology, or another related field
- Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather and on uneven ground
- Strong aptitude for fieldwork and hands-on environmental assessments
Preferred Qualifications:
- CESCL (stormwater qualification) and/or Certified Arborist certifications
- Experience in wetland delineation, tree and stream evaluations, and construction monitoring
