Job SummaryAs a Polysomnographer - CRT Specialist at Christus Health, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Your expertise will be essential in calibrating and adjusting recording apparatus, selecting proper montages and special monitoring techniques, and recognizing and recording clinical and physiological events.
Responsibilities
Calibrate and adjust recording apparatus to ensure accurate data collection
Select proper montages and special monitoring techniques as needed
Obtain standard recordings, recognizing and eliminating artifacts
Apply respiratory equipment as ordered by physician and use proper settings as instructed
Apply EKG, EMG, and EOG monitoring electrodes
Place and securely attach recording transducers to measure airflow, respiratory effort, and oximetry
Perform physiological calibrations, verify patient maneuvers, and record
Institute 'lights out' and note patient data
Monitor the polysomnogram and recognize and record clinical and physiological events
Note and correct equipment malfunctions
Monitor and change patient's body position as needed to obtain required sleep/wake data
Carefully wake patient and record post-test physiological calibrations
Remove electrodes and transducers and assist patient with hygiene as necessary
Recognize and respond appropriately to patient's medical problems, especially cardiac dysrhythmia's, respiratory events, and seizures
Ensure safety and welfare of patients, including pediatric and psychiatric patients with special needs
Check availability and function of emergency equipment
Administer respiratory care and diagnostic procedures and therapies as assigned by Department Manager or supervisor
Perform CPR and be certified for basic life support by AHA
Understand and practice safe respiratory care techniques
Adhere to all universal precautions
Assess, plan, and provide individualized care for patients in compliance with physician's orders
Perform specialized skills involved in advanced life support or intensive care
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
L-Resp Care Pro and L-RPSGT licenses
C-RRT-SDS and C-BLS certifications preferred
