Job Summary

The Lead Educator is a key member of our team at Little Vols Learning Center LLC, responsible for leading the classroom and coordinating the curriculum. This role requires a strong understanding of child development and the ability to create a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Lead by example, encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching, and plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences, and ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Classroom Management: Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children, and supervise educator assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Record Keeping and Professional Development: Maintain accurate records, forms, and files, and maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills, and ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • Education and Certification: A strong understanding of child development, excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to get it.
  • Personal Qualities: High energy, ability to get up and down off the floor and move with high energy while interacting with children, and reliable transportation.
