Nurse Professional Staff

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Professional Staff Nurse to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a Professional Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
About the RoleThe Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. This role is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care, managing and providing patient care activities, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, patients, and families to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Apply adult learning principles to educate patients, families, and new staff members on various aspects of patient care.
- Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients, considering their individual needs and preferences.
- Practice critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and address clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues affecting patient care.
- Communicate effectively with care team members, patients, and families to ensure clear understanding and coordination of care.
- Participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and the practice environment.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located or a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting and Act 33 and 34 clearances.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
