Position Overview:

In partnership with the nursing leadership, oversees the execution, provision, and assessment of high-quality patient care and nursing services that align with established nursing standards, service priorities, and performance metrics. This role is essential in ensuring that departmental and organizational objectives are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with nursing management to oversee nursing services and patient care within designated units, ensuring alignment with departmental strategies and adherence to cost, quality, and clinical standards.
  • Ensures that unit services effectively meet the needs of patients, physicians, and internal stakeholders in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Monitors compliance with patient care and quality standards in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Drives continuous improvement in clinical practices and operations by developing and implementing systems to evaluate and enhance patient care.
  • Manages daily operations of the unit, including monitoring service quality and supervising patient care delivery.
  • Oversees unit operations, including staffing, budget management, and quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Develops and executes strategies for staff development and improving patient care delivery.
  • Assesses service quality and utilization standards, taking responsibility for patient care at the unit level.
  • Coordinates treatment plans and ensures cost-effective service utilization.
  • Adjusts personnel allocation based on patient needs to optimize care while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Researches and implements best practice models from within the unit or from other departments.
  • Addresses and resolves patient, family, and member concerns regarding care delivery.
  • Supervises daily unit operations, including human resources management and safety programs.
Qualifications:

Experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Basic Life Support or CPR/AED certification.
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
Additional Requirements:
  • Leadership experience is defined for internal applicants as demonstrated clinical nursing leadership, participation in professional committees, or national certification in a specialty.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement processes and clinical care delivery.
  • Familiarity with the Nursing Practice Act and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • ACLS certification.
