Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, making recommendations, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, stocking, and rotating produce to ensure accurate inventory levels and maintain a visually appealing display.
  • Ordering and Procurement: Assist the Produce Manager in ordering produce, managing inventory levels, and minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
  • Department Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized department, including the produce rack, shelves, and floor.
  • Special Orders: Process special orders and follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training and monitoring department personnel, including new hires and existing team members.
  • Register Functions: Assist with register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, and addressing customer complaints.
  • Safety and Security: Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in a grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
