Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients and their families in State College, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct spiritual support to patients and families
  • Work with staff, clergy, and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of patients and families
  • Participate in patient conferences to assess and report on spiritual needs
  • Provide bereavement follow-up services
  • Develop and maintain a resource group of clergy for spiritual care delegation
  • Arrange for on-call availability of chaplain services
  • Visit patients and families in the home
  • Attend biweekly IDT meetings

Requirements:

  • At least one unit of clinical pastoral education (CPE) required
  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology, or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry preferred
  • Previous experience as a hospital and/or hospice chaplain preferred
  • Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical
  • Experience in working with patients and families dealing with life-threatening illness and death
  • Hospice experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
