$20.50-$22.50 per hour, based on experience and performance (DOE)

Job Description:

The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist plays a vital role in helping individuals achieve competitive employment, promoting self-sufficiency and increased independence. As a key member of our team, you will work independently and collaboratively with clients, employers, and community partners to facilitate successful employment outcomes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Support individuals with disabilities to achieve employment-based goals and placements in competitive integrated employment.
  • Provide quality job support, including pre-employment obligations, paperwork, required trainings, orientation, and ongoing support throughout employment.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant assistive technology and reasonable accommodations to assist individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Observe, report, document, and provide corrective guidance and solutions to challenges and issues arising in the workplace.
  • Foster positive relationships between individuals we support and their coworkers and supervisors.
  • Develop natural supports within the workplace to increase independence and decrease dependence on paid staff support.
  • Communicate effectively with the individual's entire Person-Centered Planning (PCP) team regarding employer and individual needs.
  • Verify attendance on a regular basis for each individual on caseload.
  • Complete weekly support visits for individuals on caseload to meet PCP/IEP requirements.
  • Enter service logs into OHS's client management software daily.
  • Maintain accurate records of individuals' employment details, such as pay rate, benefits offered, supervisory information, etc.
  • Participate actively in regular meetings with the Disability Service Coordination team.
  • Drive personal vehicles or agency vehicles for community and employment transportation purposes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and group facilitation skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, anticipating client and employer partner needs and resolving issues diplomatically.
  • Ability to cultivate existing relationships at schools, universities, and local businesses.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with diverse staff and clientele.
  • Document services provided and maintain consumer files according to quality standards.
Experience/Educational/Training Requirements:

A minimum of:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, General Education, or History.
  • Associate's Degree with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant experience.

Additionally, you should have proficiency working with Workplace by Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Asana, as well as:

  • First Aid/CPR training (completed upon employment).
  • Relias Training/Online Virtual Training (training completed on-site).
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation with proper insurance coverage.
  • Successful background check (Federal, State, County).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
