Position Overview: We are in search of a meticulous and highly organized individual to fulfill the role of Logistics Coordinator. This position is essential for guaranteeing the effective and prompt transportation of installation materials and products from our production facility to the designated installation sites.
The ideal candidate will possess a proactive and collaborative approach, adept at navigating the intricacies of logistics to satisfy construction timelines while maintaining our high standards of excellence. An innovative, resourceful, and passionate mindset is crucial for proposing ideas for ongoing enhancements and contributing to a streamlined logistics management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication: Engage with internal teams and transportation brokers to provide timely updates on shipment statuses and address inquiries from installation teams, production leads, or project management regarding logistics.
- Coordination of Shipments: Arrange freight shipments with carriers and/or logistics brokers to ensure the delivery of millwork and installation tools or supplies.
- Shipment Coordination: Strategically plan, coordinate, and oversee the transportation of materials and finished products to adhere to delivery schedules while ensuring compliance with all local and federal logistics regulations. This includes evaluating the schedule and status of items for shipment to determine the appropriate delivery method (e.g., Overnight, Two-day, FTL, Sprinter Van).
- Logistics System Development: Maintain and assist in the development and updating of the shipment database to guarantee accurate tracking of items to be shipped, items ready for shipment, and items already shipped, ensuring easy reference for production leads, installation superintendents, and project management.
- Documentation: Create shipment lists detailing the items included in each shipment, along with indications of any items that could not be shipped in time.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve any logistics-related challenges or delays to effectively mitigate issues. This includes determining when the shipping team needs to work extended hours and coordinating with production for additional support in packing and loading trucks promptly.
- Team Leadership: Oversee and direct the daily operations of the shipping team, including product wrapping, shipment loading, delivery unloading, and maintaining a clean and organized shipping area.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in logistics coordination within a manufacturing context, ideally in the millwork or construction sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of logistics processes, transportation modes, and relevant regulations.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing a team of at least three members.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Background in the millwork or cabinetry industry is advantageous.
