Job Title: Senior Java Developer

WSSC Water is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our team. As a key member of our IT Application Services department, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE or J2EE) applications that support our organization's day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain J2EE applications
  • Migrate legacy applications to J2EE platform
  • Develop web client interfaces
  • Provide operational support for existing J2EE and non-J2EE applications
  • Analyze, design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain applications and application enhancements
  • Develop and adhere to standard SDLC methodologies to produce project results that are measurable and delivered on time and within budget
  • Develop and adhere to team project standards for development, including tools, platforms, methodology, and controls to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency
  • Prepare detailed software specifications and test plans
  • Perform quality assurance reviews
  • Provide program and system level time/cost estimates
  • Evaluate and modify various COTS products, such as Moodle and Remedy, to obtain optimal configuration for WSSC Water environment
  • Provide technical documentation updated to the latest enhancement or release
  • Assist in reviewing current technical architecture, including design patterns and development methodologies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years' experience in application and web systems development using Java EE or J2EE, SQL database server, and web client development
  • 2+ years of development experience with SOAP or REST frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using Apache Tomcat
  • Certification in Java or J2EE or mobile application development
  • Application development experience for mobile technology (either Android or iOS)
  • Application development experience with React, Angular, or Python
  • Experience with e-commerce applications
  • Experience with applications supporting water utility and plant operations
