We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Student Support Services team at Page Unified School District #8.
Job Summary:The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing students' functional development level, maximizing their functional level, and providing information for program development and student placement. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in occupational therapy and possess excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess students' fine motor skills and development skills for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations.
- Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and/or make recommendations.
- Facilitate meetings, such as IEP conferences, parent meetings, and in-services, to develop plans and/or provide information regarding students' functional goals.
- Instruct students to implement plans for re-mediation of functional limitations.
- Prepare documentation, including evaluations, observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers, and outside professionals, to provide written support, develop recommendations, and/or convey information.
- Present information on various topics related to professional expertise in occupational therapy to communicate information and gain feedback on treatment issues.
- Research resources and methods to determine appropriate approaches for addressing students' functional goals.
- Screen students to determine the need for further individualized assessment.
- Prior job-related experience.
- Skills to apply assessment techniques and treatment modalities, communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques and treatment modalities, relevant education codes, state and district policies, child development patterns.
- Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, walk distances between buildings, develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP), work independently, be flexible, and work under time constraints.
- Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, reaching/handling/fingering, and talking/hearing conversations.
- State Licensure and Board Certification for Occupational Therapy, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Valid Driver's License, and evidence of insurability.
