Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Computational Coastal Engineering

Louisiana State University is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the interdisciplinary Center for Computation and Technology. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group focused on advancing coastal science and engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and development of an ecological modeling code in Python, designing appropriate coupling with deltaic hydrodynamic processes in two-dimensional computational models.
- Develop a computationally efficient coupling approach, design model validation scenarios with available data, and assess ecosystem engineering effects on vegetation establishment in a fast-growing delta in Louisiana.
- Lead peer-reviewed journal articles and support publication and maintenance of open-source research software.
- Assess biophysical processes in deltaic hydrodynamics, predict vegetation establishment of wetland species, and quantify species-flow and -inundation interactions.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Computational Science and Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience and strong motivation to continue work in hydrodynamic modeling, sediment transport, and/or marine ecology are desirable.
- Prior experience in model development, scripting, and/or the use of specific software, such as Delft3D, ANUGA, Python, and/or MATLAB is preferable.
The postdoctoral researcher will be a member of a dynamic research group and will have the opportunity to work with a team of experts in coastal science and engineering. The position is supported by the university-wide commitment to advancing coastal science and engineering, which spans multiple departments, centers, and institutes.
