Life Pacific University is in search of dedicated candidates for a full-time faculty role within the Department of Counseling & Psychology, part of the School of Arts & Sciences. This department offers programs including a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development & Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling. Life Pacific University has a long-standing tradition of educating a diverse student population for service in various sectors. POSITION OVERVIEW
The selected candidate will take on the role of Instructor/Faculty within our Counseling and Psychology Department. Responsibilities include teaching a total of 24 units per academic year, typically comprising 4 courses per semester, with opportunities for additional teaching assignments. Additional responsibilities involve participation in departmental committees, student advising, program assessment, and other academic duties. This position is classified as academic faculty and reports directly to the Department Chair, the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and the Provost.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the Academic Committee for the Counseling and Psychology Department.
- Delivering instruction for 24 units annually.
- Overseeing internships within the Human Development & Psychology program, including site development and student placements.
- Assisting the Department Chair in promoting departmental programs and events.
- Exemplifying effective instructional practices and guiding colleagues in enhancing those practices.
- Contributing to program assessment and review as necessary.
- Providing academic advising to students each semester.
- Engaging in scholarly and professional development activities.
- Integrating Christian values into professional practice and serving as a role model for students.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.
- Previous teaching experience.
- A demonstrated ability to incorporate a Christian worldview into course design and instruction.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- A demonstrated Christian faith consistent with the values of Life Pacific University and its affiliation with The Foursquare Church Denomination.
