Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist to join our team in the clinical laboratory at UW Health. This is a part-time position with a 0.60 FTE, working 2nd shift with rotating weekends and holidays. On-call is required, and hours may vary based on department needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing in the clinical laboratory, including moderate and high complexity patient testing.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, ability to work independently, and take on teaching/training responsibilities as needed.
  • Work effectively as a team member, maintaining good relations with physicians, clinic staff, and coworkers.
Requirements

Minimum qualifications include:

  • An Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
  • One year of experience performing moderate and some high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory, with successful completion of competency assessment.
  • Or two years of experience in a clinical laboratory.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
  • Or a Bachelor's degree with 60 semester hours or equivalent, including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses.
