Position Overview:

KIPP Oklahoma seeks dedicated Educational Support Assistants to provide individualized instructional care to students with special needs. These assistants play a crucial role in supporting teachers to implement educational and care programs that foster academic success and personal growth for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Support
  • Assist in delivering high-quality lessons developed by educators.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students and teachers based on mutual respect.
  • Provide instructional assistance in both special education and general education settings to address students' unique needs.
  • Set and communicate high behavioral expectations by teaching and reinforcing rules and consequences.
  • Maximize instructional time by approaching tasks with urgency.
  • Keep accurate and current records of student progress.
  • Take responsibility for student learning outcomes.
  • Offer constructive feedback to educators regarding student progress and requirements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and strive to meet personal and professional development goals.
  • Meet professional obligations through effective time management and adherence to deadlines.
  • Stay informed about best practices for supporting students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges.
  • Welcome feedback and constructive criticism as part of a commitment to continuous improvement.
Academic and Cultural Engagement
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of individualized learning and behavior plans for students.
  • Assist in the overall functioning of the school as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist students during various activities, including playtime, transitions, and lunch.
  • Guide independent study and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Perform health-related tasks such as feeding, lifting, and assisting with personal care routines.
  • Carry out other duties related to special education as directed by teachers or administrators.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience with youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
