Position Overview:
The Field Engineer is tasked with independently assessing and overseeing construction operations to ensure compliance with project plans and relevant specifications. This role involves notifying project management of any significant issues and maintaining thorough documentation to confirm satisfactory completion of inspections or testing activities as per project requirements. A comprehensive understanding of the project scope and timeline is essential for this position.
Location & Travel Details:
Travel opportunities across the United States are available, focusing on sustainability initiatives and supporting teams in constructing wind infrastructure. Placement may occur at various project sites nationwide. We provide designated weekly subsistence in addition to base compensation to assist with living expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and promote all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct inspections to ensure quality standards are met during the construction of large-scale wind and solar projects, including roads, environmental compliance, excavations, concrete work, substations, transmission lines, and utility installations.
- Verify that construction activities align with design specifications.
- Review inspection reports, identify non-conformities, and assist in resolving issues.
- Maintain essential logs such as Material Tracking, Project Test and Inspection, Concrete and Grout, and Non-Conformance logs.
- Coordinate the submission and processing of project documentation to meet procurement timelines.
- Ensure all materials used in installations comply with approved specifications and job site requirements.
- Perform basic to moderate surveying and measurements to verify line, grade, and dimensions of structures.
- Organize daily activities effectively to ensure accurate recording of quality control data.
- Document all work performed and prepare comprehensive daily reports detailing quantities completed and resources utilized.
- Proactively identify and address deficiencies through preconstruction quality control inspections.
- Effectively document field changes for incorporation into revised drawings.
- Collaborate with the permitting team to secure necessary local, state, and federal permits.
- Work closely with the Field Quality Manager and site management to ensure compliance with quality assurance and control standards.
- Maintain open communication with construction managers regarding job progress, schedules, and subcontractor performance.
- Compile information for operations and maintenance manuals, ensuring proper organization and updates.
- Manage inventory processes for incoming materials, including inspection and storage.
- Oversee the inspection process and manage final punch lists.
- Track production and extra work authorizations, identifying resolutions.
- Prepare and distribute daily project updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in validating calibrated tools and determining the calibration status of measuring equipment.
- Engage with other Field Engineers, Quality Inspectors, and Project Management for effective collaboration.
- Utilize construction management software for quality inspections and documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Field Engineer I:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related construction role.
- Ability to complete and pass the local or state certified SWPPP inspector program, with knowledge of SWPPP project management plans.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience in construction.
- Alternatively, an Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field with 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 3 to 5 years of experience in construction.
- Alternatively, an Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field with 5 or more years of experience.
Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety principles, taking personal responsibility for Zero Injury initiatives.
- Self-motivated, organized, and possessing strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and safety regulations.
- Capable of writing daily reports and documenting project activities effectively.
