This position encompasses a range of public safety and law enforcement responsibilities aimed at safeguarding life and property.

Key responsibilities include crime prevention, apprehension of offenders, and enforcement of all relevant federal, state, and local regulations to mitigate losses from accidents and incidents.

The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively communicate and engage with patients, families, and visitors of diverse backgrounds, while being respectful of their cultural and religious values.


Performance Expectations:

The officer will consistently engage in friendly, courteous, and compassionate interactions with patients, families, visitors, and staff, contributing to exceptional quality of care, satisfaction, and loyalty.

It is essential to enforce all applicable laws and hospital policies to maintain a secure environment for patients, staff, and guests.

Regular documentation of findings in the safety survey form is required, along with prompt responses to identified hazards (e.g., uneven flooring, sharp objects, and potential slip or trip risks) by taking appropriate measures and notifying maintenance to minimize safety incidents.

In response to security threats involving staff and guests, the officer will provide escorts upon request and manage disruptive individuals in a safe manner to prevent harm.

Accurate reporting of safety-related incidents is crucial, involving the collection of relevant data to create a comprehensive account of events for future reference.

Appropriate use of force during confrontations, as outlined in hospital policies, is expected to ensure a safe resolution to physical threats.


Qualifications:
Education/Skills: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with college education preferred. Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and document effectively, are essential. Successful completion of ongoing in-service training is mandatory.

Work Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in law enforcement is preferred, although extensive related experience may be considered as a substitute.

Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver's License is required upon hire. For part-time/PRN employees: MS Board of Law Enforcement Standards and Training Certification is necessary. For full-time employees: MS Board of Law Enforcement Standards and Training Certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Mental Demands:
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with others, make sound judgment decisions, and show initiative. An understanding of the potential for physical confrontation and its associated risks is essential. The ability to manage the handling of cadavers as part of routine operations is required. Willingness to adhere to hospital standards is expected.
