Job Summary

This role is responsible for the receipt of biological specimens into the department, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and performing waived testing. The successful candidate will report to a department supervisor and may take direction from higher-level technical personnel. The position is also responsible for performing all essential functions as defined by the department, in addition to performing waived and moderately complex tests in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, the candidate may perform highly complex testing as defined by CLIA '88 with direct technical supervision. The role also involves training employees on basic entry level tasks, performing QC/QA duties, and serving as a resource.

Key Responsibilities

- Performs all essential functions as defined by the department at a high level of competency, including highly complex testing under supervision.
- Responsible for start-up, calibration, and accuracy of procedures and instrumentation of waived and moderately complex tests.
- Exercises independent judgment and can identify appropriate resources in the performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrates comprehension of theory and clinical relevance of waived, moderately complex, and highly complex testing.
- Demonstrates advanced problem resolution and decision-making skills for routine operational and technical problems.

Requirements

- Requires a high school diploma and the ability to multi-task and cross-train in all areas of the Anatomic Pathology section.
- Must have highly developed interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, and basic computer skills.
- Good reading, writing, and math skills are also required.
