Stax is seeking a highly skilled Underwriter I to join our team. As an Underwriter I, you will play a critical role in reviewing merchant applications and conducting thorough due diligence to ensure accuracy and adherence to company and sponsor bank guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate underwriting packages to ensure all necessary documentation has been provided in accordance with partner guidelines.
- Analyze and generate department-related reports, including MATCH, TIN, Credit Reports, and OFAC.
- Assess and document findings related to financial analysis and risk exposure calculations.
- Collaborate with Team Leads and Management on escalated issues and partner concerns.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance overall team performance.
- Complete application reviews within designated department SLAs.
- Utilize resources available for both internal and third-party tools to minimize pends and improve the decision-making process.
- Analyze underwriting data to identify areas for improvement to streamline partner experience.
- Ensure compliance and understanding of department and company policies and procedures.
- Propose strategic initiatives to leadership that support growth and partner retention.
- 1+ years of proven experience in underwriting, payment processing, or risk management.
- Ability to prioritize workflow, multi-task, and organize daily activities.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of underwriting techniques and credit risk principles.
- Analytical mindset, ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of making quick, sound decisions with the ability to detail recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
