POSITION SUMMARY

The Cashier plays a crucial role in managing monetary transactions within our retail environment. This position involves the use of electronic payment systems, cash registers, and related equipment to ensure accurate financial exchanges. Responsibilities also include processing credit and debit card transactions, as well as validating checks.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must successfully meet standard TSA badging requirements for airport operations.
  • Exceptional skills in delivering prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Thorough understanding of cash register operations and cash drawer management.
  • Proficient in executing monetary transactions, including giving and receiving change.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Familiarity with gift cards, traveler's checks, cash handling, coupon processing, and refunds.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately balance all transactions processed through the assigned register.
  • Proven track record of efficiently processing sales and return transactions.
  • Capability to stay informed about current product locations.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to manage phone inquiries and perform light housekeeping duties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process payments through cash, checks, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers as necessary.
  • Verify cash drawer amounts at the start of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change.
  • Welcome customers as they enter the establishment.
  • Keep checkout areas clean and organized.
  • Determine or confirm prices of goods and services, calculating bills using cash registers or optical price scanners.
