Exercise Physiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at St. Luke's Health-Memorial. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing individualized exercise prescriptions for patients, as well as providing education and support to meet patient goals for risk factor modification.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to identify patients requiring mobilization plans of care
- Develop and implement individualized mobilization plans of care for patients
- Collaborate with nursing to evaluate effectiveness of the plan of care in achieving desired outcomes and revise plan of care as needed
- Interdepartmental liaison between the recovery room, intensive care areas, and the floors to promote continuity of care and discharge planning
- Communicate treatment plan with collaborative team members – medical, nursing, PT, OT, SW, Case Manager
- Monitor patient for ECG changes, cardiac arrhythmias, blood pressure, and symptoms before, during, and after exercise
- Demonstrate quality and financial benefits of program through reports on improved patient outcomes, length of stay, and cost per case for this patient population
- Validate staff understanding and adherence to patient safety standards while mobilizing patients
- Provide information and resource materials to new staff, which will contribute to early assimilation into the organization and the accomplishment of orientation outcomes in a timely manner
- Participate in product/equipment evaluations and provide staff education on new and existing products and equipment
- Contribute to the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care through the development and implementation of staff development programs and self-directed learning activities designed to meet identified learning needs, to enhance professional development, and to increase competency
- Conduct and support outcomes-oriented research and integrate findings into clinical practice, educational programs, and policy updates
- Lead and participate in the Performance Enhancement program and other quality enhancement activities through monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of programs
- Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Licensure: Bachelor Degree
- Experience: One (1) year of related work experience
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good understanding of exercise testing, liver transplant rehabilitation, arrhythmia recognition, and general exercise physiology
- Basic Computer skills with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and the internet
- Basic EKG interpretation skills validated, or obtained within six months of employment
- Physically able to perform job duties
