Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team at the State of Minnesota. As a key member of our Transportation Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of Minnesota's transportation network for all users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct speed data collection and field visits to ensure speed limits are safe and reasonable.
  • Track and map current and historic speed limit authorizations statewide.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Traffic Engineering, MnDOT District staff, and local agencies to ensure speed zoning policies are implemented effectively.
  • Provide technical expertise on speed safety cameras and other related matters.
  • Occasionally travel within and outside the state for work-related purposes.
Requirements
  • Three years of para-engineering experience in transportation or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes related to speed limits, statistics, and Mn/DOT policies and procedures.
  • Ability to review technical information and arrive at solutions to problems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class D driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GIS software and Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota crash data and MnDOT roadway data.
  • Project management knowledge and skills.
