CSL Plasma is a leading global plasma collection company, and we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in the collection of plasma from donors, ensuring the highest quality and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect plasma from donors using aseptic techniques and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor the pheresis process and ensure the quality and safety of the collected plasma
  • Perform venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process
  • Evaluate vein performance of donors to identify possible problems and make necessary corrections
  • Ensure the efficient and effective collection of plasma, making adjustments as needed to make the process a positive experience for the donor
  • May educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma
  • Ensure that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately, and professionally
  • Maintain alertness to any reaction by donors and assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff
  • Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process
  • Perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in SOPs
  • Respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and create incident documentation
  • Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues
  • Collect arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing
  • Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred
  • Ability to complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have high-level manual dexterity
  • Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
  • Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs
