$61,000 to $71,000 annually.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students with autism spectrum disorders using speech and language assessment procedures.
  • Develop and conduct direct service delivery based on individualized treatment goals and IEP requirements.
  • Provide interventions through individual, group, and/or consultative models based on student needs.
Indirect Service Delivery
  • Attend team meetings as requested and actively participate as a member of assigned teams.
  • Consult with the larger treatment team according to allotted time in the IEP.
  • Communicate with teachers and program supervisors regarding schedule changes.
  • Identify students' therapy needs.
Documentation
  • Document assessment results and treatment interventions within established school and IEP guidelines.
  • Familiarize yourself with Faison Center guidelines for speech therapy employees.
  • Communicate with families and share that communication with the student's teacher.
  • Maintain service delivery schedules on shared drives and track makeup time needed and provided.
  • Comply with documentation forms prescribed by placing agencies and the Department of Education.

Requirements

Experience Requirements
  • Demonstrate a specialized understanding of motor, cognitive, psychosocial, and communicative aspects of autism spectrum disorders.
  • Utilize knowledge in student evaluation, treatment planning, and participation as part of a larger treatment team.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis demonstrated through experience.
  • Able to use supportive communication techniques based on student needs.
  • Experience in pediatric speech and language services.
  • Able to independently carry caseloads, including scheduling, evaluation, treating, consulting, and adhering to policies.
Education Requirements
  • Possess a Master's degree in speech and language pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
  • Licensure as a speech and language pathologist from the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology.
