Job Summary

ASRC Federal Holding Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solo Librarian to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing research and reference services to a diverse patron base, including EPA staff, researchers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the library's physical collections and provide reference and interlibrary loan services using resources provided by and following procedures established by EPA.
  • Provide instruction and documentation to library users and assist in the use of reference sources to locate information.
  • Respond to requests for information on environmental topics, and search commercial electronic databases to locate information requested by patrons.
  • Work independently under overall contract and task order requirements and client objectives.
  • Ensure that all government contracting requirements are met, including timely submission of deliverables such as monthly reports.
  • Implement goals, policies, and procedures for the Library.
  • Prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports on Library activities and progress; prepare other reports and respond to data calls as needed.
  • Perform ready and extended reference services; user training; marketing and outreach; collection development and maintenance; circulation management; inter-library loan; copy cataloging; acquisition support; and other information services.
  • Searches subscription-based commercial databases, such as Web of Science, CSA Illumina, ProQuestDialog and HeinOnline, to provide information requested by patrons.
  • Provides interlibrary loan service.
  • Performs copy cataloging of library materials; ensures that all new materials are cataloged and shelved.
  • Issues and receives materials for circulation or use in the library.
  • Maintains library collections of books, serials, publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials; makes recommendations for collection development decisions.
  • Produces bibliographies on specific subjects, selective and/or annotated bibliographies, information kits, general literature guides, and resource directories. Assembles and arranges displays of books and other informational materials.
  • Develops content for and provides regular updates to the Library's internal Intranet Web pages.
  • Maintains the general Library environment on a daily basis.
  • Shelves books, reports, documents, microfiche, and serials; conducts periodic inventories to ensure availability of materials.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional library experience is required.
  • Familiar with information technology as related to library services.
  • Education or work experience in environmental or related sciences is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter with a strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a small office environment and be able to communicate effectively, patiently, and courteously with others.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status and ability to pass a government sponsored background check.
  • Ability to meet physical demands which include: full range of arm movement, e.g., lifting above the head, ability to do data entry for long periods of time, ability to sit for long periods of time, usage of step ladders to reach higher shelves, ability to lift at least 40 pounds in weight on an occasional basis, pushing or pulling 160 pounds on a cart, and the abilities to bend, stoop, and kneel.
