Position Summary:
The Surgical Services Department at Jewish Hospital operates around the clock to ensure that all surgical needs, including emergencies, are met. Our diverse service lines encompass various specialties, including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Robotics, and Orthopedics, among others. With a total of 30 operating rooms, our dedicated staff is committed to delivering exceptional care to patients and their families.
A Surgical Technician plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team during procedures, adhering to established protocols and standards. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing sterile setups, assisting with patient preparation and movement, and maintaining a clean operating environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and equipment tailored to specific procedures.
- Assist in various surgical specialties while demonstrating proficiency in maintaining sterile techniques and conducting surgical counts.
- Oversee the cleaning, reprocessing, and proper storage of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Support the transfer and positioning of patients as directed by the surgical team.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting or relevant clinical rotations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
