About the Role

This Fish and Wildlife Conservation Specialist position is located in the US Fish and Wildlife Service, working out of the R5-West Virginia Ecological Services Field Office in Davis, WV.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as a Fish and Wildlife Conservation Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences, natural resource management, or a related field, with experience in conducting investigations, managing wildlife resources, and developing conservation plans.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex investigations to determine the impact of land and water development projects on fish and wildlife resources.
  • Gather, organize, and interpret biological, ecological, pathological, public use, or other pertinent information to inform management plans.
  • Assist in implementing management plans, studies, and investigations required for species propagation/production, resource protection, ecological factors, public information, and other aspects of natural resource management.
  • Consult pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended.
  • Review and report on permit applications for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Requirements
  • Possess a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service performing work in the field of fish or wildlife biological science.
