About This Role

The Respiratory Therapist provides direct respiratory care to patients in all areas of the hospital as outlined in Pulmonary Services procedure manual. Is knowledgeable in providing and evaluating the routine as well as critical care modes of respiratory care.

Responsible for the effective and optimal administration of modalities based upon assessment and evaluation. Provides recommendations and/or changes to care based on patient's current status.

· Demonstrate understanding of Code Blue and Rapid Response procedures.
· Assure code blue intubation and blade boxes are checked daily and after use.
· Assure mandatory hospital and department competencies are done annually in a timely manner.
· Demonstrates ability to access department and Medical Center information.
· Perform respiratory care procedures according to physician orders, department policy/procedure, and patient care plan.
· Perform ABG's and process according to department procedure, interpret results and take appropriate action.
