Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Critical Care Specialist to join our team in the Cardiac Cath Lab. As a Critical Care Specialist, you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist with patients' activities of daily living and plan of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
  • Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or patient's family or significant other(s).
  • Maintain and demonstrate high standards of professional ethics.
  • Perform technical duties as directed by the RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to the population served, and document appropriately.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond appropriately.
  • Reinforce education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
  • Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
  • Participate in the performance improvement activities.
  • Assist in orientation of new hires.
  • Complete annual unit-specific competencies by the specified due date.
  • Attend Staff Meetings when available for document review of staff meeting minutes.
  • Assist in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.

Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of experience preferred.
  • High School/GED.
  • Qualifications/Certifications:
    • Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program.
    • Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN Program.
    • 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification - required.
