Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Critical Care Specialist to join our team in the Cardiac Cath Lab. As a Critical Care Specialist, you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist with patients' activities of daily living and plan of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
- Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or patient's family or significant other(s).
- Maintain and demonstrate high standards of professional ethics.
- Perform technical duties as directed by the RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to the population served, and document appropriately.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond appropriately.
- Reinforce education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
- Participate in the performance improvement activities.
- Assist in orientation of new hires.
- Complete annual unit-specific competencies by the specified due date.
- Attend Staff Meetings when available for document review of staff meeting minutes.
- Assist in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.
Requirements:
- 0-2 years of experience preferred.
- High School/GED.
- Qualifications/Certifications:
- Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program.
- Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN Program.
- 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification - required.
