Job Description:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is a critical role within our team, responsible for performing radiologic procedures and providing exceptional patient care. This position requires proficiency in various imaging modalities, including general diagnostic, fluoroscopy, pain clinic, GI lab, urology, and c-arm procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality radiologic examinations while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Position patients accurately and select exposure factors for various radiologic examinations.
  • Identify patient information, label images correctly, and process images to ensure quality radiographs.
  • Assist Radiologists, work independently, and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, enter patient data into the radiology information system, and document billing codes.
  • Serve as a technical resource, preceptor, and role model for students and staff, promoting excellent patient care and departmental processes.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced training in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Radiologic Technologist role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in radiology positioning, techniques, aseptic procedures, and C-arm operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of radiation safety, radiology equipment, anatomy, and specialty physician protocols.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with diverse providers.
  • Ability to work independently, with intermediate computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards; must wear personal protective equipment as needed.
