Accounting Faculty Position

Join the College of Southern Maryland as a tenure-track faculty member in the Accounting department. We are seeking a highly qualified individual to teach a range of courses, including Principles of Accounting 1 & 2, Intermediate Accounting 1 & 2, and Federal Income Tax 1 for Individuals.
About the PositionThis is a full-time, tenure-track position that requires teaching 15 credit hours per semester and 30 credit hours per academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities to promote student-centered learning and success.
Responsibilities- Teach a range of courses in the Accounting program, including morning, day, evening, and online classes.
- Design assignments that incorporate students' program of study and connect to the Accounting program.
- Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches.
- Meet with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students.
- Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into the teaching and learning process.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret information.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations, with varied levels of learning and preparation.
- Knowledge and use of student engagement strategies that support completion and student success goals.
- Demonstrate experience providing feedback students can use to improve their performance.
- Maintain an ongoing program of professional development and participate in professional organizations, workshops, seminars, conferences, and activities.
- Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills.
- Master's degree in Accounting or closely related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting coursework.
- CPA license, preferred.
- One year of instructional experience is preferred, including teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness, preferably at the community college level.
- Two years of professional experience in the Accounting field.
- Experience in tax preparation, preferred.
- Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation.
- Ability to use an educational enterprise, learning management system such as Brightspace (D2L) to support and facilitate instructional delivery.
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, virtual, web, and hybrid formats.

Since this position requires in-person teaching and other in-person faculty duties, the candidate will be required to live within commuting distance of the Southern Maryland area.
