Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at St. Luke's University Health Network. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine studies on patients, ordering and administering radiopharmaceuticals, and adhering to all state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures in compliance with established protocols and regulations.
  • Educate patients regarding Nuclear Medicine procedures and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Perform Quality Control on all equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture with radioactive liquids and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Schedule patients and order radionuclides as needed.
  • Assist in clean up of accidents or spills involving radioactive materials and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain the Hot Lab and waste disposal areas in accordance with regulations.
  • Demonstrate competency in the knowledge of the RIS modules and receive radionuclides.
  • Maintain responsibility for own professional development through active participation in inservices and/or continuing education programs.
  • Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS and verify correct patient information.
  • Maintain competence in the use of the Patient Tracking System and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the success of the department to achieve Press Ganey goal of 90% and maintain confidentiality of all materials handled.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety.
  • Demonstrate/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers.
  • Demonstrate Performance Improvement in the following areas: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Demonstrate competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology and certified by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • Must pass registry within 1 year of hire date.
  • Mandatory competency of clinical experience and didactic training under the supervision of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Working Conditions

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to radioactive materials. The position requires sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of upper extremities for lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The position also requires frequent pushing against objects which weigh up to 100 pounds and frequent pulling of objects which weigh up to 350 pounds. The position requires frequent stooping/bending and reaching above the shoulder level and occasional crouching. The position requires feeling as it relates to palpating of patient's veins, hearing both high and low frequencies, and volumes ranging from very soft to that of normal conversation. The position requires seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, color vision and depth perception.
