Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator RN

Virtus Healthcare Staffing, LLC is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a passion for quality improvement to join our partner hospital as a Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with the Trauma Program Leadership to ensure optimal care for injured patients throughout their journey, from pre-hospital to discharge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct concurrent and retrospective chart reviews to identify adverse events, variances in care, complications, and patient safety issues.
  • Develop and implement action plans for process improvement, and document closure.
  • Oversee data collection, tracking, and benchmarking related to trauma patient care and system development.
  • Track Trauma PI issues from all units and disciplines, develop or assist with action plans, and ensure follow-through.
  • Analyze trauma registry data to assess accuracy and identify areas for improvement, education, and injury prevention.
  • Attend trauma-related meetings and prepare cases for Peer Review.
  • Serve as an active member of trauma-specific committees and participate in strategic planning for the Trauma Program.
  • Support the Trauma Registry.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and performance improvement activities for the Trauma Program.
  • Participate in the TQIP program and meetings.
  • Attend county and regional meetings as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate injury prevention activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Certifications: TNCC required, TCRN required within 6 months of hire, ATCN within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Emergency/Critical Care/Trauma experience, 1 year of performance improvement experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Clinical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of trauma nursing fundamentals, standard practices, and College of Surgeons Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.
  • Education & Communication: Ability to effectively engage and educate in one-on-one and group settings, creating educational materials and competencies.
  • Problem-Solving & Advocacy: Demonstrated experience with initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, and flexibility in problem-solving and patient advocacy.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to research, interpret, and analyze data, generating solutions for process improvement.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with physicians, management, and patient care staff.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills, compassion, and excellent communication skills.
  • Documentation: Working knowledge of electronic medical record nursing documentation.
  • Organization: Excellent task management, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously.
