Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the designated Wexford Health manager and clinical supervision from the Director of Nursing and the site Medical Director, you will be responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will also direct and guide patient teaching activities and ancillary personnel, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to inmates, utilizing available resources and treatment protocols.
- Provide leadership to LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing paraprofessionals in patient care, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Coordinate multiple medical services for diagnostic and treatment, as directed by the Medical Director, Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
- Enter housing units to pass medications or other medical items, and conduct medical screening when necessary.
- Assist in minor medical or surgical procedures, and intervene in emergencies as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and medical and correctional personnel, promoting good working relationships and a positive patient experience.
- Document nursing encounters utilizing the Problem Oriented Medical Records format of charting, and participate in quality assurance standards by contributing to chart audits.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities with ease.
