Senior Propulsion Engineer

SpaceX is revolutionizing space travel and exploration, and we're looking for a talented Propulsion Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Combustion Modeling Development Team, you'll play a critical role in developing cutting-edge combustion simulation software that will help us achieve our goal of making humanity a multi-planetary species.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement state-of-the-art features on multi-core and GPU hardware to extend simulation capabilities and improve performance.
- Collaborate with combustion analysts and software engineers to develop advanced simulation tools that accelerate engine design.
- Develop and maintain a massively parallel, high-performance combustion simulation software with an active user base and time-critical deliverables.
- Support all aspects of software development as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline.
- 5+ years of software development experience in C++.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing combustion numerical methods for detailed CFD.
- Demonstrated expertise with fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and combustion physics.
- Experience working on concurrent applications (e.g. threading, MPI, CUDA).
- Experience working with a team on at least one large software project.
- Experience with object-oriented software design and functional programming.
- Background in scientific computing, high-performance computing, or mathematics.
- Willing to travel in support of launching and testing of hardware.
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
