Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist - Mammography I at Kaiser Permanente, you will operate dedicated and specialized mammography radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images of normal and abnormal human breast and associated tissue. You will work under general supervision to formulate and calculate techniques, position patients, and critique radiographs to recognize normal from abnormal tissue.

Within established scope of practice, you will use independent judgment to critique radiographs, recognize normal from abnormal tissue, and take additional required views. You will consistently process radiographic images properly, utilizing automated equipment, and demonstrate knowledge of proper sterile techniques and infection control.

You will conduct patient interviews to attain full understanding of procedures and obtain consent. You will also assist with orientation and training of students and other Radiologic Technologists in all aspects of positioning, compression, exposure factors, film processing, and quality assurance/control.

Essential Responsibilities:
Uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. Operate dedicated and complex mammography equipment in a patient care setting to obtain definitive diagnosis for positive findings on a mammogram. Select correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patient's age, body habitus, and pathology.

Critique image and make necessary adjustments in technical factors, patient positioning, etc. Demonstrate knowledge of proper sterile techniques and infection control. Conduct patient interviews to attain full understanding of procedures and obtain consent. Assist with orientation and training of students and other Radiologic Technologists.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 1 year recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including performance of routine mammographic examinations/procedures in an acute care medical center, outpatient breast center, or other FDA-certified facility. May substitute 1 year recent experience with verifiable equivalent mammography training in affiliated approved schools.

Education: N/A. License, Certification, Registration: Certified Radiologic Technologist - Mammography Certificate (California), Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California), Basic Life Support, Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Additional Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate and apply knowledge, principles, and practices of radiologic, mammographic techniques, breast structures, anatomy, composition, and pathology. Maintain compliance with all current organizational, state, and federal regulations pertaining to required number and types of mammographic examinations to be performed within a specific time period.
