Job Summary

The Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Pre-Registered Dietitian. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the development and implementation of medical nutritional therapy for clients or patients in our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of medical nutritional therapy plans for clients or patients
  • Work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to ensure the highest level of care
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients or patients
  • Conduct nutritional assessments and develop personalized plans to meet the unique needs of each client or patient
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutritional therapy plans and make adjustments as needed
  • Communicate effectively with clients or patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care

Working Conditions

This is a temporary appointment classification used for recruitment of professional dietitians. All appointments in this class are made on a temporary basis and are not to exceed six months. Incumbents, upon becoming registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association, will then become eligible for appointment to the class of Registered Dietitian.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement
  • Extensive use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
  • May require continuous walking and standing within an 8-hour period, and prolonged sitting in front of a computer
  • Occasional test kitchen assignments will require use of kitchen equipment

Selected candidates are subject to special requirements. This position is required to complete a medical evaluation.
