Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at Exceptional Health Care. As a Pharmacist PRN Prescott, you will play a critical role in providing clinical and operational services in an inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and Clarify Medication Orders
    • Interpret and clarify written orders for all types of medications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  • Medication Preparation and Dispensing
    • Prepare compounds, labels, and packages medications and pharmaceuticals in accordance with established professional protocols and standards.
  • Storage and Security
    • Secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Medication Management
    • Restock or load medications in Omnicell stations, ensuring timely and accurate dispensing.
  • Charge Capture and Billing
    • Ensure all charges for dispensed medication orders are captured in the hospital's billing system, maintaining accurate records.
  • Emergency Response
    • Provide medications and drug information relative to circumstances and patient conditions in emergency codes, ensuring timely and effective response.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate drug-related side effects, dosages, and potential complications to other healthcare professionals, promoting effective patient care.
  • Patient Education
    • Advise patients and/or their representatives on the use of various medications, including dosage, side effects, and composition, promoting patient understanding and adherence.
  • Formulary Management
    • Promote effective use of the formulary system through drug product selection and therapeutic alternative product suggestion for non-formulary orders, optimizing patient care and cost-effectiveness.
  • Therapeutic Monitoring
    • Monitor drug therapy as assigned by physicians, suggesting alternative drug therapy when appropriate, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Consultation and Collaboration
    • Consult with and advise medical staff personnel regarding the utilization of drugs and pharmaceuticals, promoting effective patient care and treatment.
  • Code Response
    • Attend codes to assist clinical staff with medication dosing and preparation, ensuring timely and effective response.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an AACP-accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Experience
    • Free Standing ED or Micro Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification
    • Current Arizona Pharmacist license upon hire.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (ACLS requirement waived for clinical pharmacist working in the retail pharmacy department).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Knowledge of drugs, possible side effects or interactions with other drugs, and how to compound medication in accordance with professional standards and practices.
      • Skill in following physicians' orders and prescribed medications and relaying any procedures and concerns to the patient.
      • Skill in patient counseling and responding to patient's questions or concerns.
      • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
