Overview

This role is designated for a Lead Law Enforcement Officer within the Veterans Health Administration. The incumbent will undertake a comprehensive array of law enforcement responsibilities, adhering to established protocols and regulations that govern law enforcement, security operations, and crime prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Law Enforcement Officer's responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting thorough investigations and detaining individuals suspected of violating federal laws.
  • Ensuring the safety of individuals during law enforcement activities.
  • Responding promptly to incidents involving potentially armed individuals.
  • Taking decisive action during active criminal situations to protect life and property.
  • Implementing measures to prevent unauthorized access and theft of sensitive information.
  • Engaging in patrol duties via vehicle, foot, or bicycle.
  • Responding to requests for police assistance and addressing suspicious activities.
  • Documenting incidents through detailed reports.
  • Providing law enforcement services across various jurisdictions.
  • Securing evidence and witnesses at crime scenes.
  • Enforcing traffic regulations and managing traffic-related incidents.
  • Conducting investigative stops and making arrests as necessary.
  • Safeguarding the constitutional rights of individuals.
  • Utilizing de-escalation techniques in high-stress situations.
  • Transporting detainees to appropriate facilities.
  • Executing emergency response protocols.
  • Delivering Basic Life Support (BLS) to injured individuals.
  • Coordinating search and rescue operations for vulnerable individuals.
  • Preparing and presenting case files in legal proceedings.
  • Maintaining public safety and security on agency property.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the service.

Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet all specified requirements.

Specialized Experience: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, demonstrating knowledge of law enforcement operations and responsibilities.

Physical Requirements: The role necessitates moderate to strenuous physical activity, including the ability to respond to emergencies and pursue individuals as needed.
