Job Description

The Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a pool of applicants for adjunct faculty positions in the academic year.

The selected candidates will be part of a team of professionals who are passionate about inspiring students to become the best version of themselves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans to supplement the syllabus for the course Winning Presentations (BUSN 225)
  • Teach a total of 2.5 hours per week, usually 23 days per week
  • Timely submission of grades and communication with students
  • Attend and complete all required training prior to and upon completion of each semester
  • Conduct regular office hours
Requirements
  • MFA in Theatre, or a master's degree in a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Professional performance experience, acting and/or directing
  • Extensive training in theatre and communication
  • Strong communication skills, superior written and presentation skills, and professional presence
  • Professional experience in an area of business (marketing, accounting, finance, real estate, management, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and collaborating with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • MFA in Theatre Pedagogy or Theatre Performance
  • 2+ years demonstrated excellence in teaching public speaking or related courses at the college level
  • Demonstrated excellence in performance pedagogy
  • Business experience
  • Experience with Canvas or another learning management system
