Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar capacity. Candidates with less than 1.5 years of experience may require manager approval for consideration.
Patient Demographics:
The ideal candidate will work with adult patients presenting a range of medical conditions, including but not limited to: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Acute Renal Failure (ARF), Hepatitis, End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD), Diabetes Mellitus (DM), Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Pneumonia, Sepsis, Gastrointestinal Bleeding, Syncope, Chest Pain, Pulmonary Emboli, Respiratory Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Arrhythmias, Seizure Disorders, Overdose, and Delirium Tremens.
Staffing Ratios:
Registered Nurse:
In the Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry, the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for both day and night shifts.
Essential Certifications:
Required certifications include Registered Nurse (RN) with BLS and ACLS credentials.
Educational Requirements:
Candidates must have completed a nursing education program accredited by a nursing board and hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
The Telemetry Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Interpreting cardiac rhythms
- Initiating IV therapy
- Administering blood products
- Managing CIWA protocols
- Overseeing drain and tube management
- Performing catheter insertions and management
- Administering insulin drips (non-DKA only)
- Conducting continuous bladder irrigation
- Maintaining chest tubes
Additionally, the candidate should possess effective verbal and written communication skills, conduct thorough physical assessments, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, maintain a professional bedside manner, and exhibit teamwork, a positive attitude, and adaptability.
