Senior Java Software Engineer for Satellite Ground Systems

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Satellite Ground Systems Software Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Satellite Ground Systems Team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing advanced software applications for our satellite ground systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement Java-based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Work with previously written code and make modifications as necessary.
  • Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
  • Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of their immediate supervisor.
  • Follow established software processes and procedures, development, documentation, and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with satellite ground systems.
  • Experience in systems engineering related to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and architecture.
  • Software development experience using Java in both Windows and Linux.
  • Agile software development experience.
  • Software architecture and algorithm development experience.
  • Cyber Security experience.
  • Experience with software automated test tools such as Eggplant (or equivalent).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 9+ years of Satellite Ground Systems experience within the GPS OCX enterprise.
  • Advanced Java Software development experience.
  • Experience working external interface development and integration efforts, algorithm design, display designs, and working both front-end and back-end software products.
  • Experience using Cameo Enterprise for large-scale programs.
  • Experience using the Atlassian tool suite.
  • Software development technical leadership experience.
  • Superb interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of inter-software messaging busses and software frameworks.
