Protestant Church Musician and Organist

Sanford Federal, Inc. is seeking a skilled Protestant Church Musician/Organist to enhance our worship services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Pastor to curate a selection of instrumental music and hymns for worship, including preludes, postludes, congregational singing, anthems, and other service music.
• Organize and plan instrumental music for both regular and special services, ensuring that all arrangements are submitted four weeks in advance.
• Provide musical accompaniment for all regular and special services, even on short notice.
• Supply any additional instruments required for worship beyond organs and pianos.
• Accompany soloists during scheduled Protestant Chapel weddings, with fees established by the wedding couple.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of recent experience as an organist in a military chapel or civilian church setting.
• Certification from the American Guild of Organists (AGO) at the basic level.
• Formal training in organ performance, which may include college coursework.

Skills Required:

• Proficient in music harmonization and demonstrated ability in sight-reading hymns from the Armed Forces Hymnal (AFH).
• Vocal skills, including the ability to sing in tune and recognize basic melodies from musical texts.
• Familiarity with religious music and knowledge of at least two liturgical music resource-publishing companies, with an appreciation for both contemporary and traditional church music.
