Key Responsibilities

This position entails overseeing the operation and maintenance of our industrial water systems, boilers, compressed air, and steam distribution networks. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular inspections and performance evaluations of boiler room, refrigeration, and water treatment systems, ensuring accurate documentation of operational data.
  • Supervising the operational integrity of the water treatment facility, boilers, turbines, and distribution systems alongside shift operations teams, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Assisting in repairs and maintenance of all equipment and distribution piping systems.
  • Performing sampling and testing of chemical treatment systems, including the handling of bulk chemicals.
  • Providing operational support during equipment shutdowns and startups, adhering to standard lockout/tagout (LO/TO) protocols.
  • Maintaining equipment cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Contributing to the development and revision of standard operating procedures.
  • Executing maintenance tasks as required, including refrigerant management and leak repairs.
  • Supporting overhead distribution piping systems operations.
  • Completing other assigned duties, including record keeping and inspections.
Safety and Work Environment

Adherence to safety protocols and regulations is mandatory. This role operates on a rotating shift schedule, consisting of two days followed by two nights, with four days off. The position is hourly and eligible for overtime, with an estimated annual salary range of $72,000 - $84,000, plus an annual incentive bonus.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of two years of experience in a lower-level operator or mechanic role.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, cooling towers, water treatment facilities, piping systems, and steam turbines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn various industrial software applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
Licensing and Certifications

RED-Rochester LLC will assist in obtaining necessary licenses and certifications, including:

  • City of Rochester S-3 Stationary Engineers License
  • City of Rochester R-4 Refrigeration Operators License
  • NYSDOH 2a Water Treatment Operator certification
  • US-EPA Refrigerant Handling Universal License
Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions. A valid driver's license is required for travel within the facility.
