Role Objective:

This role acts as the primary liaison between NICB, member organizations, and law enforcement, offering guidance on strategies to prevent and address insurance-related fraud and crime within designated regions. Special Agents are tasked with initiating and executing investigations that lead to the dismantling of organized crime groups, apprehending offenders, mitigating losses, securing restitution, and reducing instances of insurance fraud. This position operates as the investigative branch of NICB, collaborating with member organizations, law enforcement, and other relevant agencies to tackle insurance-related criminal activities.

Work Structure and Expectations:

This is a field-based role, requiring the individual to be assigned to a specific Area of Responsibility (AOR) and travel within that area to fulfill job duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive and timely investigations involving multiple claims and carriers.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data to support investigations.
  • Document all stages of investigative processes meticulously.
  • Prepare detailed investigative reports for submission to law enforcement and prosecutors.
  • Represent NICB in court proceedings as necessary, often serving as an expert witness.
  • Act as a liaison with member organizations, law enforcement, and governmental bodies to promote NICB's full range of services.
  • Serve as a technical expert in fraud investigations and the identification of fraudulent schemes.
  • Maintain active membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Collaborate effectively in a Task Force environment as a team player.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with member organizations, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, and vendors.
  • Provide extensive training to member organizations and law enforcement on insurance crime issues.
  • Identify potential new member organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or 7-10 years of equivalent experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of relevant investigative experience is required.
  • Experience in the insurance sector or law enforcement is preferred.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Operates in an unstructured environment.
  • Covers a broad geographical area with minimal direct supervision.
  • May involve squatting, climbing, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel is a requirement.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary to operate a company vehicle.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is $65,000.
