Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Assistant Project Manager - Electrical Construction.

This position is responsible for ensuring the success of our electrical projects by coordinating closely with Project Managers and Superintendents. The ideal candidate will have expertise in assistant project management, document control, and communication, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure project success, maintaining up-to-date documents, managing RFIs, and keeping project logs current.
  • Document Management: Conduct weekly meetings with the Project Manager and Foreman to review project status and address any issues, ensuring RFIs and submittals are accurate and timely.
  • Submittal Production: Prepare and submit detailed submittals per contract documents for General Contractor approval, reviewing and finalizing submittals with suppliers once approved.
  • Communication & Multitasking: Effectively manage multiple projects and communicate with various Project Managers, handling project-related communications and documentation efficiently.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees in accordance with APIC Solutions' policies and legal requirements.
  • Oversee training, work planning, performance appraisal, and resolution of issues.
  • Verify fixture counts, gear sizes, and manage equipment release schedules.
  • Coordinate with other divisions for successful project hand-offs and performance.

Work Scope:

  • Estimating: Analyze blueprints and bid documents to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors, conducting site visits and recording necessary information.
  • Project Turnover: Efficiently transfer bid documents and subcontractor information to the Project Manager, reviewing drawings and project costs, highlighting concerns and key vendors.

Subcontractor Award:

  • Review proposals thoroughly to ensure proper scope and commitment to project timelines.
  • Provide necessary project information to subcontractors and identify new ones as needed.

Customer Relationships:

  • Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities.
  • Handle follow-up requests promptly and build strong customer relationships.

Internal/External Cooperation:

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and business ethics, communicating and implementing these standards within the team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, build trust, and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in project management, electrical, or a related field, with experience managing or assisting with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar) and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and contracts, and a basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
